MLS Betting Preview
D.C. United (5-2-7) at Seattle (5-3-5)
Wednesday, 10:35 pm Eastern – ESPN 2

An excellent matchup in the Soccer Betting MLS is on tap for Wednesday night in Seattle as the Sounders host D.C. United. The Sounders have been a great story this season as the expansion club has 20 points to sit third in the Western Conference. D. C. United comes into Wednesday’s match with 22 points and in first place in the Eastern Conference.

Seattle got a much needed win on Saturday night as they defeated San Jose 2-1. It ended a six-game winless streak for the Sounders. Fredy Montero had his fifth goal of the season in the win. "It's also just a matter of, as we play more and more together, we find our rhythm better. I thought the interchange between our guys was much better today. I thought our runs in the box were more dangerous," coach Sigi Schmid said, "When [Steve] Zakuani got to the end line, that's where we got some opportunities. There's a lot going on. He puts pressure on himself. Every goal-scorer goes through things like that, but he leads our team with five goals, and hopefully he'll continue to do that."

“We're going into the game with the same amount of rest as D.C. They had a pretty active game [Saturday] as well, and they've got to fly across the country. Hopefully that'll behoove us." Schmid said.

United is coming off a big 2-1 win against Chicago on Saturday that put them into first place in the Soccer Betting Eastern Conference. "I think the possession part of our game lacked a little bit in the first half. We didn't open up and Josh [Wicks] kicked a lot of balls that I'd rather see him play out a little bit, get Christian [Gomez] more involved but I think overall our defensive performance was great," coach Tom Soehn said.

United are unbeaten at home with four wins and four draws, but are 1-2-3 on the road "It's obviously a relief to finish off a game and be in first place, but it's short lived. We have to turn around and go back to work. The sign of a good team is the ability to go and perform on the road. That's another test we'll have to do," Soehn said. "Every season has major tests and this is one. We have to show them we can step up and play for something against a good team."

This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams. D.C. United has played once previously at Qwest Field though, as in 2006 they played Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw in front of 66,830 fans.
